Hornby Outdoor Sports — Zucchini Cycles
Zucchini Cycles, or the Bike Shop as it is affectionately known, is under new management as of summer 2011. Lucie Lamay has lived on Hornby for 10 years and for much of that time she worked at the Co-op. Wanting new challenges and experiences she purchased the Bike Shop at Ringside Market and is excited to be providing for our biking needs.
Touring Hornby from the comfort of a bike is a wonderful experience. There are lots of great trails on the mountain to explore by bike (we're famous for them!) with riding is for all skill levels. We have everything from North Shore style sickness (well, one trail anyways) to smooth double track and everything in between. Hornby is a mountain biking mecca for the west coast, having clear and smooth trails for 95% of the year.
Hornby also has a well developed trail system that follows the road to most destinations. A few years ago some forward thinking locals decided that commuters and kids needed a way to ride without being right on the road. They've been working hard since then to make a trail system that follows the road and gets you safely to some of the most interesting parts of the island.
