Fords Cove Resort and Store
Matthew Fredbeck - proprietor
Matthew, who grew up at the Cove, recently took over the Ford Cove Resort and Store from his mother. After years of living in Asia, it looks like he is back to stay. The Store is a great place for most essentials and has a great DVD selection. The cabins and campground at the Cove are a marvelous place to stay year round. Open 8 - 10 during the summer and 8 - 8 during the rest of the year. Call 335-2169 for information or visit fordscove.com.

Also at Ford Cove you can find Steve Tovell of Hornby Boat Rentals, 335-1872, who will be happy to set you up with a kayak for a paddle around Lambert Channel, as well as Arbutus Arts, which always has a wonderful selection of local art and crafts. Hornby Island Diving keeps busy with the underwater crowd and you can often find fresh prawns and tuna on the dock.
Fords Cove and the Community
The
Cove is a favorite place of many Hornbyites for a sunset, a treat and a
place to sit and catch up with friends. With a magnificent view and an atmosphere
of west coast ease it is a place where we come together to enjoy island
life. Starting from the dock you can walk along the sandstone beach to Toby
Island marveling at the alien stone structures along the way. Or take the
Spit Trail to the Ferry Dock and Thatch Pub.
Also
nearby is Gordon Bio Farm, open daily during the summer
(except Saturdays). Visit to pick up organic veggies and plants and you
will find yourself in a garden so
inspiring and beautiful it has to be
seen
to be believed.
