If it is mid September, then it must be the Fall Faire! This is an island affair that is both relaxed and festive. A huge amount of community involvement, and the generosity of Arne Olsen, culminate in a day of delicious food, stunning arts and crafts, a cornucopia of bounty from the garden and a day long schedule of music and special kids activities.

Caroline James - Art in the Orchard

Art In The Orchard

Featuring "Lovesong" - 25 New Paintings by Caroline James

Guest Artist Alastair Heseltine
www.alastairheseltine.com

Opens Friday August 15 (5 to 9 pm)
Exhibition Runs: August 16, 17 & 18th
(10 am to 4 pm)

At "The Orchard House"
1835 Shingle Spit Rd.
Hornby Island, BC

I'm delighted to be holding this exhibition at The Orchard House on Hornby Island, which offers a spectacular garden setting with stunning seascape views (my heartfelt gratitude to Deb Ouellet for providing this wonderful venue).

The orchard, like the canvas, displays subtle texture and form, innocuous richness supporting life and offering mystery; quietly accepting its role as a backdrop for the beautiful bird, and yet whispering its own enigmatic splendour. The bird sings a 'love song' because it knows.

Perched above the shore with the ocean lapping at its feet, the Thatch pub is the first sight to greet islanders and visitors as they arrive on Hornby Island. Every Friday evening at 7:00 pm, Annie Siegel (piano, vocals) comes over from Denman Island to join Dana Inglis (bass), Darryl Bohn (drums), Tony Wilson (guitar) and Nick McGowan (tenor saxophone) at the Thatch to make wonderful music.
