Drawn by the natural beauty, many artists have made their way to Hornby to discover a community that supports and celebrates creativity. The diversity and talent of Hornby's artists is reflected in a thriving year round arts scene. In the summer season the many home studios are complimented by two art galleries, The Island Gallery and Arbutus Arts and also The Pot Shoppe which specializes in pottery. You can find artisans and craftspeople at the twice weekly farmers markets and there are always new and exciting art shows being mounted at the Community Hall and more recently at Joe King Ballpark.

During the shoulder season (September to November and March to July) the galleries remain open during the weekends and there are often artisan markets held at the community hall. Over the winter, many of the artists will welcome you to their studios, but please give them a call first.

We are known for our painters, potters and fibre artists, but you can also find talented musicians, woodworkers, sculptors, photographers, writers, stilt walkers and poets here. The Hornby Theatre Society (H.I.T.S) provides opportunity for aspiring thespians, costume designers and set decorators to express themselves. We are also home to Middle Mountain Mead and Carbrea Vineyard for those who wish to sample some delicious locally made libations.

Visit the Artists and Music pages to view a representation of our local talent and hear some soulful tunes.
