Rachelle Chinnery

Rachelle's carved porcelain work expresses the movement of the ocean. Tidal lines over sandy shores are composed of repeat patterns that never change, but always vary in composition. Observing the ocean's patterning is a deeply hypnotic and peaceful activity and is the central influence behind her work.

Rachelle Chinnery grew up in Montreal, Quebec and has made her home on the West Coast since 1995. She recently moved to Hornby Island to be close to the ocean and live a quiet rural life. Rachelle's work is in private and public collections around the world and has received awards in Australia, Korea, and Canada. She is a 2007 recipient of The British Columbia Creative Achievement Award 2007.

Work is available through the Island Gallery on Hornby Island, Saturday and Wednesday Hornby Island Farmer's markets.
