Hornby Island Artists
Margaret Sinclair
A dual passion for rose growing and history has led Margaret to the ancient
practice of making beads from crushed rose petals. Originally used for prayer
and good fortune, these lovely scented beads gave the early “rosary”
its name. In her cluttered Hornby Island studio, she combines rose petal
beads with gemstones, pearls, gold and silver to make distinctive jewelry
and rosaries. Upon request, she also makes custom pieces using beads made
from rose petals sent to her. She has also created historical pieces for
television and theatre. Margaret has enjoyed an active massage practice
on Hornby Island since 1974 as well as being involved in a variety of community
activities.
