Joan Harris

When Joan and her husband arrived on Hornby 26 years ago, they thought they would be staying just for the summer, but the natural beauty, sense of community and solitude to pursue creative endeavors led to buying land, raising a family and settling here. Joan received a fine arts degree from Bennington College in 1971. Her serious involvement with clay began in 1979. Developing, testing, and producing all of her glazes, Joan employs several distinct firing methods when creating her wheel thrown and hand built work. Her dinnerware and other works are lyrical and frequently evolving, while her murals reflect the environment surrounding her home and studio.

Joan’s work can also be found at Gecko Design, The Island Gallery, Arbutus Arts, and The Pot Shoppe
