Hornby Island Artists
Diane Smith
Diane made Hornby Island her home after an eventful bicycle trip in 1971
that led her from suburban Burnaby to the shores of Big Tribune Bay. Since
then she has contributed to the community as a mother, dancer, midwife,
author, yogi and fabric artist. Her new works reflect many years living
and working in India practicing midwifery, yoga and her artwork. She expresses
her devotions and love of beauty with vibrant silk appliqués that
revolve in light and shadow. They capture stillness in the heat of Indian
summers and calmness in the midst of turmoil. Her inspiration? Making peace.
